Government told to cut benefits for middle-class pensioner

The Government has been under pressure from senior politicians, including Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan-Smith, to cut back on benefits such as the winter fuel allowance, free TV licences and bus passes for middle-class pensioners.

Currently £100billion is spent providing benefits for the elderly, and Iain Duncan-Smith has controversially called for £5billion to be shaved off that total. Read more
