President Barack Obama has honoured Stevie Wonder, his musical hero, in a ceremony in the White House. Who is your musical hero?

The US president said the Motown legend had been the soundtrack to his youth, and doubted that his wife would have married him if he had not been a fan.

Stevie Wonder’s song Signed, Sealed, Delivered was a theme song during the president’s campaign, while the First Couple also used You and I, as their wedding song.

Stevie Wonder was presented with the Library of Congress’ Gershwin prize, America's highest award for pop music.

Is there an album or soundtrack that has influenced you? What other musicians would you honour?

I was inspired by the happy go lucky upbeat tunes of 'Madness' in the late seventies and early eighties.

I'll go to my grave with Beatlemania (not for a while though!!)
Also loved the Eagles, Steely Dan, the Doobie Brothers and most of the Motown performers.

Rock on Babyboomers

Happy New Year to all of you, enjoy yourselves while ever you can

Hi,
During the 60's, music was the most dominating factor of my life. Anything from the Beatles, The Stones, Status Quo. In fact, if they held a guitar, could nearly play it and made a lot of noise then that was fine by me. I had all the best equipment and could play along with the best of 'em. Air guitars from Fender and thigh drums from Sonor! If I let you into a little secret, I've still got most of them. What old men do behind closed curtains!!! I must confess however, I'm just about bald so I can't do my Rick Parfitt impersonations so well, but my imagination lives on.
The moral of this story? Life is for enjoying - and confessing.

Who's next in the box???

I was just trying to provoke a response or two. And it worked!

Can't resist listening to Abba or the Bgees. :P Always perks me up.
Oh and the rat pack at the theatre.

Abbas' music will still be around long after we are gone. It's timeless.

I was never a BeeGees fan, although as a teenager, I could sing like them.
I used to buy the cheapest ice blue jeans I could find, in the market. I remember, I used to pay ten shillings and sixpence for them.
They had to be two sizes bigger, because I used to put them on and then lay 2 hours in the bath. By the time they had dried, they had shrunk so much, I looked like Rudolf Nureyev - and sang soprano. The next challenge came when I tried to get them off!
